Year 5 Japanese Noh Theatre Workshop
Year 5 were honoured to visit Howes Primary this morning to take part in a Japanese Noh theatre workshop with three world renowned artists. They watched a performance, were able to ask questions and explored the 'journey songs' which are a key element of Noh theatre. The children were actively involved in the session, getting used to traditional Noh movements such as the Kamae stance and Suri Ashi move. They also performed a Shimai (traditional song) and enjoyed experimenting with Noh voice calls. The children listened and watched with great interest and respect and really got stuck in to the activities. We will look forward to seeing the work the children produce on their journey songs back in school.
