Worldwide Explorer visits his old primary school

Pupils from KS2 enjoyed a surprise assembly from Mark Wood on Friday 25th January. Children learnt about Mark's expedition to the North and South Poles and his forthcoming Everest climb. We were captivated by his experience of using creative thinking, resilience and determination to overcome challenges that he faced during his polar explorations. We hope to follow Mark’s ascent of Everest later this year, with Stivichall playing a key role in his ‘Global classroom’ message, which will be played from the summit!

Mark talked to the children about having respect for yourself, respect for your environment, thinking creatively and differently and about having fun and making the most out of life. Year 6 were lucky enough to ask Mark some questions about exploring - linked to their current theme curriculum work in class. Some of our Stivichall children may even be part of a short video, linked to Mark's 'Global Classroom' project, that will be broadcast from the summit of the world's highest peak.

What an incredible opportunity! Thank you again to Mark and we wish him the very best for his Everest climb. More information about Mark, his exploration and the 'Global Classroom' project can be at @markwoodexplore  www.markwoodexplorer.com
