On Wednesday 12th December, the Year 6 boys football team competed in the EFL Cup at the AT7 Centre as part of a 20 team knockout tournament. The boys opening game was against Lillington Primary. After falling behind in the early minutes, the boys rallied and won the game 2-1. The next group game was against Park Lane Primary; the boys stormed into an early lead and then comfortably won the game 4-0. Next up (and the final group game) was against Goodyers End Primary School. Once again the boys took a commanding lead and held off a late attack to win the game 4-0. The boys won the group and made it through to the semi-final against Stratford Primary. The took a commanding 4-0 lead before being pegged back to 4-2. The boys showed their team spirit and resilience to extend their lead and win the game 7-2 and then had back-to-back 4-0 victories before a 7-2 semi-final.
In the final the boys fought hard but were eventually beaten 2-1 by St Andrews. The entire team was praised by the Coventry City Scouts; they represented the school brilliantly and conducted themselves with passion and pride whilst showing respect to other teams and a high level of resilience.
