Children from across school completed a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) project last year to redesign the old school garden. They had to use their estimation and measuring skills to 'map' what was already there; be creative and use their imagination to design an improved garden; use reading, number and money skills to research gardens, suggest materials etc. and cost the work needed to make their designs. 

Different children across school and some volunteers from our community have all contributed to the beginnings of the new school garden. The Gardening Club children, who have been staying after school on Tuesdays with the help of staff and a grandparent volunteer, have managed to plant a variety of sensory and decorative plants. They have even grown their first produce (rocket and tomatoes) and shown great enterprise in planting and growing hanging baskets that they then sold at the summer fayre - well done to the gardening team!
