Outdoor Learning LOtC
We are passionate about Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) at Stivichall. There are lots of activities that you could do outside at home that might support your learning and will definitely help your physical and mental wellbeing. Sometimes you might need to put on the type of old clothes and wellingtons or old trainers/shoes that you would wear to your Forest Schools lessons at school ,other times you could just pop on a coat and get out into the garden. Enjoy and stay safe!

Bird Spotting In Your Garden #01 LET'S GO LIVE with children's presenter Maddie Moate & Greg |
There are so many things you could do outside. Here are some brief ideas:
- bird spotting and making a tally for how many of each type of bird come to your garden
- be creative with a stick - how many different uses can you think of for a stick that you might find in your garden
- learn some basic gardening tasks from an adult and ask if you can be really helpful by doing one or more of them (e.g. sweeping the patio, pulling up weeds etc)
- go on a mini-beast hunt and see what creepy-crawlies you can find (they are often underneath things)
- paint, draw, sketch outside
- make some 'natural art' using leaves that you may find in the garden
- measure (and/or estimate) the dimensions of your garden and draw some new designs for your garden like you did for the school garden two years ago
- go and sit down and do nothing outside ... listen to see what you can hear ... listen to your own breathing and practice being mindful and calm. Enjoy the time to relax and stop for a while :-)
