Music lessons at home

Some of our amazing music tutors are able to offer lessons via a video call, or similar, during the school closure. This will enable the children to have fun playing and continue to learn as, they would in school.  At present woodwind, piano and guitar lessons are available, and we hope that this will also extend to violin very soon. This would be a private agreement and parents would pay the tutor direct. Any payment for lessons that not been received due to school closure will be taken off the next invoice, when children return.  Please contact the tutor direct using the details on the Home Learning page of the school website.

We would like to thank all of our music tutors for offering this service and encourage parents to support them during these unusual times.

In addition to our School Safeguarding Policy, the tutors will follow the general safeguarding procedures from the Musicians Union (MU) and the Incorporated Society of Musicians, ISM (please see below). Online tuition can only take place after receiving written acceptance of these safeguarding procedures from a parent or guardian (for under 18s):

- A parent or guardian should be present for signing in at the start of the lesson.
-The pupil must take lessons in a room with an open door and a parent or guardian must be in the same premises as the pupil while the lesson takes place.
-A parent or guardian must be available at any point during the lesson for the teacher  to speak with.
-All communication regarding online lessons should be with parents/guardians via email and (NOT with the pupil)
-The pupil can only be in online contact with the teacher during the agreed lesson time. No unsolicited contact from the pupil is permitted outside of that time.
-Appropriate attire should be worn at all times during the lesson.
-No screenshots or recording to personal devices of the lesson should be undertaken unless express consent is given by both the teacher and a parent/guardian.
